For people visiting Santa Clarita from Los Angeles, or for those visitors that fly into LA to visit Santa Clarita, a great way to avoid the typical LA traffic is the Metrolink. The Metrolink is southern California’s foremost passenger rail system with over 50 stations across the region.
There are three Metrolink stations in Santa Clarita – all on the Antelope Valley Line. It usually takes less than an hour from LA Union Station to the first Santa Clarita stop, Newhall Station. The station, which also has bus and coach service, is located at 24300 Railroad Avenue. One of the best features of the station is how close it is to a wide variety of entertainment, restaurants and shopping. It is within walking distance to the Old Town Newhall Main Street area, which features two live performance theaters – Canyon Theatre Guild and The MAIN, Heritage Junction Historic Park, the William S. Hart Ranch and Museum and an abundance of retail shops and restaurants.
Main Street in this area also serves as host for regular special events throughout the year, namely the popular Thursdays@Newhall series. Every Thursday the shopping and dining district becomes a center for arts, entertainment and nightlife. Thursdays@Newhall features interactive music and dance events, variety shows, car shows, a singer-songwriter showcase, informative lectures and free-form discussions with notable and varied speakers, and festive block parties with food trucks and live music. The best part is, all these events are free to attend!
