DAY 1: Make a Splash at Hurricane Harbor
Kick off Labor Day weekend with a full day at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, making the most of one of the final weekends of summer. Spend the day cooling off on waterslides, floating the lazy river and relaxing poolside.
Ride the Summer Trolley
Skip the parking and take advantage of the FREE Santa Clarita Summer Trolley, which connects local hotels with nearby attractions such as Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor, Old Town Newhall and Valencia Town Center.
Dinner in Old Town Newhall
When you’re ready to dry off, hop back on the Summer Trolley and head to Old Town Newhall for dinner. Grab a bite at a local restaurant or brewery, then make a night of it exploring Main Street’s lineup of unique drink destinations. Set sail for The Fallen Trident, a tiki bar serving up island cocktails and themed bites worthy of a pirate’s feast. Step into Sidecar Market, a hidden speakeasy serving up craft cocktails and Prohibition-era vibes for a nightcap with a little 1920s flair. When you’re ready to wind down, simply hop back on the trolley and head to your hotel.
DAY 2: Ride, Hike & Explore
Hit the Trails
Start your day on two wheels and explore Santa Clarita’s over 100 miles of picturesque trails for hiking and mountain biking and road cycling. Head to Haskell Canyon Bike Park, featuring 15+ miles of trails spanning through 380 acres of the surrounding open space, or check out one of the valley’s many scenic routes for a morning ride.
Lace up
Explore some of Santa Clarita’s most scenic hiking trails. Towsley Canyon offers challenging climbs and panoramic views of the valley, while Placerita Canyon combines shaded trails, natural beauty and a piece of California history. Be sure to stop by the Oak of the Golden Dream, where gold was first discovered in California in 1842 by Francisco López, marking the first documented gold discovery in the state.
For a hike with a little Hollywood history, head to Vasquez Rocks, one of Santa Clarita’s most iconic filming locations. The dramatic rock formations have appeared on screen in everything from Star Trek and Westworld to The Flintstones, Blazing Saddles and Austin Powers.
Local Brews
After a day of adventure, kick back with a cold, locally brewed beer. Favorites such as Lucky Luke Brewing and Brewery Draconum offer outdoor patios with cornhole, making them the perfect spots to relax, enjoy a few house-made brews and wind down after a day on the trails.
DAY 3: Labor Day at Castaic Lake
Spend your final day of the weekend soaking up the sun at Castaic Lake. Take on Cali Splash Park, Southern California’s largest floating inflatable water park, for a high-energy adventure on the water. Go for a swim, rent a kayak paddleboard or boat, pack a picnic or simply relax by the water.
After a day on the lake, head to MB2 Entertainment for an evening of food, drinks and family-friendly fun. Challenge your group to a round of go-karts, bowling, arcade games or laser tag before grabbing dinner and winding down your Labor Day weekend.
