Recharge in Santa Clarita After Your Race

Throughout the year the Santa Clarita area plays host to numerous trail races, 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons and bicycle races. But once the race is over, why not recharge for a couple days while eating great food and soaking in the southern California sun? You could pamper yourself at a local spa, visit a winery, hit golf balls at the Vista Valencia driving range or play a fun round at Sand Canyon Country Club.

There are a number of luxurious spas in Santa Clarita to help restore your energy and soothe your aching muscles. These spas offer saunas, world class massages, body treatments, facials, manicures and pedicures from skilled staff and trained masseuses. Appointments are required for premiere spots like the Ivy Day Spa, so make sure you book your reservation at a spa after you sign up for that race.

Some of the best wines in the world are made in southern California. Take a winery tour and see just how much workmanship goes into each bottle. Agua Dulce Winery is Los Angeles County’s premiere wine grower and producer. The 90-acre winery and vineyard is available for guided barrel tastings, and picnics and offers a variety of wine tastings and a gift shop where you can buy wine as well as other items. It’s a picturesque spot so be sure to bring your camera!

If you’re still in the mood for wine and food after your tour, check out the 32,000-bottle wine cellar at Le Chene, and indulge on dinner in their spectacular dining room or go for another wine tasting at the Pulchella Winery Tasting Room in the Old Town Newhall Arts & Entertainment District. Pulchella produces small batches of premium wines and wine blends. Tastings are held Thursdays through Sundays. Often times you can interact with the winemakers themselves so prep your winemaking questions!

Work on your tan and your golf stroke at the Vista Valencia Golf Course. The 27-hole course facility includes an 18-hole, par 61 executive course, a 9-hole, par 3 courses, and a driving range to perfect your swing. Vista Valencia is located just south of Six Flags Magic Mountain and about 25 miles north of Los Angeles.  Plus, Sand Canyon Country Club not only offers a day on the green surrounded by amazing mountainous views but also casual or fine dining in the Sycamore Bar & Grill restaurant.

If you didn’t get enough of Santa Clarita’s gorgeous scenery during your race (and we certainly don’t blame you) why not take the time to enjoy it at a more leisurely pace? Hike, bike and explore places like Placerita Canyon, Castaic Lake and the Vasquez Rocks. You are in for a treat!
