Pet Friendly

Santa Clarita is a great destination for pet-friendly adventures! Your four-footed friends will have lots of options to stay and play during your Southern California vacation, whether they prefer to roam the wilderness or meet new friends at a dog park. Many of our lodging accommodations welcome pets with minimal charges and our city offers many options for you to hang out with your pets, so it’s time to bring your Southern California travel adventure to a city that loves furry friends!

Where to Play?
Stretch your legs and enjoy the fresh air at one of the many City parks or trails. Santa Clarita is home to over 35 parks– three of which are dedicated to dogs! You and Fido can also enjoy more than 100 miles of picturesque trails and paseos designed for recreational use. Using these connecting Santa Clarita trails, you can easily access parks, entertainment and shopping venues. So pack a picnic or choose a unique pet-friendly restaurant and explore the town! Check out our Outdoor Recreation details to plan your adventure.

Want to relax and let your doggie exercise on their own? Visit Central Bark, our 1.3 acre dog park located in Central Park, adjacent to the multi-use grass fields. Our off-leash dog parks offer separate areas for small and larger dogs. The half-acre off leash Dog Park, Canine Country, also has separate areas for large and small dogs and is located at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex near the Skate Park. Another option is Golden Valley Park’s Five Barks dog park. All three parks offer a large communal water bowl that needs to be re-filled by doggie owners from time to time. As a bonus, you can almost always find a tennis ball for your canine companion to fetch!

Where to Stay?

At the end of a long day of fun, you can rest assured that many Santa Clarita lodging accommodations welcome pets with minimal charges. For guests wanting to stay near Six Flags Magic Mountain, pet-friendly hotels include the Homewood Suites (which offers up doggie treats and dog pads) and Hyatt Regency  Holiday Inn Express and Best Western welcome service dogs only and additional pet-friendly accommodations are available at the Residence Inn by Marriott, La Quinta Inn & Suites and Fairfield Inn by Marriott, Super 8 Motel and Extended Stay America. All of these properties offer ample outdoor grass areas for pets to roam, play & fetch!

Where to Eat?
Dogs are the guest of honor at Lazy Dog Café which is located in the Patios area of Valencia Town Center. While on the patio you can order off their special dog-friendly menu that includes options such as chicken or hamburger meat for your furry companion. While your dog feasts, be sure to treat yourself to a Lazy Dog House Sampler which includes six four ounce tasters of house brews. Speaking of brews, four legged friends can enjoy a “Doggie Happy Hour” at Route 66 Classic Grill. Here, they will indulge in free dog treats while their human companions partake in happy hour specials on the patio. Additionally, Toppers Pizza has two locations in Santa Clarita and both include patios for dining with your best friend while enjoying your personalized pizza, salad and brew.

For those visiting Six Flags Magic Mountain, Fido doesn’t have to stay alone while you partake in the thrills! The park offers free dog kennels with water and an onsite attendant available to guests who show a valid, dated admission ticket. You are welcome to visit and walk your dog at any time, and there is a shaded grass picnic area in the parking lot for you to have lunch with your best companion! Please do not leave your pets in the car.
