Santa Clarita is home to some of the best Southern California wines. Spend two days exploring our wineries, restaurants and wine lounges and you’ll see why!

Day One

The trip begins with a fresh breakfast at Marston’s, considered the “Best in California” according to Food Network Magazine. The menu features many classic favorites with a gourmet twist using the freshest, seasonal & most delicious local ingredients. From sweet to savory, everything on the menu is a tasty delight. Plus, the owner & chef is often seen talking to guests, adding that personal touch to the atmosphere.

After breakfast, stop by Whole Foods Market to create a lunch basket from their abundant selection of fresh salads, baguettes and cheeses. With a lush landscape, you’ll want nothing more than to relax and picnic while enjoying your new favorite Southern California wines!

Next up is a visit to Agua Dulce Winery, Los Angeles County’s leading fine wine grower and producer. The 90 acre, fully operational winery and vineyard offers wine tasting in a gorgeous outdoor setting where you can learn about their current wine offerings and taste up to five different wine varieties. They also have barrel room tours and wine sales and plays host to a number of special events. If you enjoy the offerings at Agua Dulce Winery, be sure to stop by the gift shop to pick up some of your favorites.

Located right next door just down the road is Reyes Winery.  The owner, Robert Reyes, has a passion for wine and winemaking and planted the 16-acre vineyard in 2014. The tasting room is open on weekends and their wines consist of five popular grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Muscat.

A few miles away, your wine tour continues with the incredible wine selection at Le Chene. The restaurant voted “Most Romantic” by the Daily News & LA Magazine boasts a 32,000-bottle wine cellar that holds one of the most extensive collections of wine in Los Angeles County. From the rarest of Californian and French wines, to the best deals on domestic blends, any desire can be met at this Southern Californian restaurant! While the wine is an excellent draw, it pairs nicely with the gourmet food served daily by the restaurant’s gourmet chefs. French classics are served in a beautifully decorated dining area. Have dessert outside, surrounded by the Oak trees that scatter the property. You’ll feel like you dined along the countryside of France, all the while enjoying your visit right here in Southern California.

Also, just a little further down Sierra Highway is Backwoods Inn, a local favorite that has been providing fine food and spirits since 1968. For those looking for the dark steakhouse atmosphere with sawdust on the floor and classic dinner selections like steak and lobster and the delicious double stuffed potato and garlic bread, this is the place for you!

Day Two

Rejuvenate your mind and body with a dip in the heated outdoor hotel pool. Once you feel a bit more energized, head over to Main Street in Old Town Newhall. The Southern California wine tasting continues once inside the Pulchella Winery Tasting Room. Pulchella Winery focuses on producing very small quantities of hand crafted, ultra-premium wines, guaranteeing your tasting experience is unique and memorable. Producing fewer than 1000 cases a year of Grenache, Syrah, Rhone Blends, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Reserve Blends, their wines are kept in their truest form to allow their Paso Robles’s Westside vineyards’ characteristics to shine.  No appointment is needed for tasting Thursdays thru Saturdays. Plus, you are welcome to bring in your own food to pair with the Southern California wines that you’ll sample.

Located just a couple doors down is Newhall Press Room. With an extensive wine list, bottomless mimosa Sunday brunch and delectable menu options to pair with your varietal this is a great stop on your wine seeking weekend!

If all that wine has you hungry for dinner, Old Town Junction will definitely satisfy. This restaurant (Kitchen–Bar–Patio) serves up top Quality American Fare with two warm and inviting dining areas, a fully stocked classically designed restaurant/bar and an expansive sidewalk seating for those wanting to enjoy the beautiful outdoor weather. With an excellent menu and cocktail selection, you’ll soon see why this is a local favorite.
